These are the enviroments. There not meant to be too detailed as the background of comic books and even cartoons are never hyper detailed unless expressly required I found in my research.
Hey Earl - the green environment works because the line art aspects make it convince as a part of your world; the vein environment doesn't work, because essentially it's too flat and bland and doesn't read. If, for example, you were to run a black line up and around and along the vein wall in a spiral, we would have a sense of the space and of movement. You definitely need to resolve a way to give some structure to that environment...
