Final Idea

This is it.
As you can tell from P. Portraits and my looking into more analytical portraits I have decided to go for something much deeper, on a literal scale.
The plan is to get my Thumbprint and enlarge/blow up it, using Photoshop and and clearing up but not taking away what is unique. Then I will use my neutral P.Portrait and place that behind the thumbprint. But this will be using 80-90% Transparency so it is barely visible. The only way to see it is to really look. This also lends into Perception in a way.
My reasoning behind this is to show that the thumbprint is who I am. No tricks and fabrication. It is scientifically me. The face superimposed behind it means you have to analyse the thumbprint to see who it belongs to.

Toaster Model

So since I was stuck in all day thanks to a goddamn police closure, I decided to create the toaster Model in Maya.

I think it came out really well except a few things.
I tried something new with the base. I wanted to give it a design but it came out wrong. oops.
I have also just noticed I should have placed the camera just a bit lower to knock off the black bits.

Oh well. Time for some Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2.

Police accident???!!!!!

Ah the humble ol' Isle of Sheppey. How I try to get to Uni but Alas... POLICE ACCIDENT??
That's right, people are trying to get to work and uni(me) but the police see fit to close off all paths that lead of the island.
I hope its OK. I have uploaded all my stuff to the blog so that's clear and my Sister still has her Uni essay guide thing so it should be OK.

ZOMBIE OUTBREAK!!

Reading Materials...

Does anyone know where the reading materials are on myUCA? I tried looking and found the maya handouts but know reading materials.
anyone have any idea?

Essay Question

I Suppose it was time I started to think about the question that I will be answering. And here it is:

'What are the relations, if any, between four of Hans Holbein the Younger's portraits?'

The Man who's work I will be analysing.

Time to get to work...

Dice Model (Fixed)

Here it is as it should be:

(Sorry about JPEG quility)
All the textures are fixed and I threw in a extra dice for good luck.
Huge thanks to Ruben and Leo for helping me with the texture issues.

More Portraits

And we are back with more preparatory portraits:
Looking away from Camera:

I felt that this was being confrontational with being obvious. We have seen portraits like this and I wanted to explore it. I have the side of my face while looking away and the back. This was just a test. Speaking of back...
Back of head:

You might be able to see my glasses here or not. Not really sure why I did it but hey, Just trying stuff out. It gives me the feeling of looking at the you without looking. Kind of like my own head is a mask.

My stuff:

This is pretty much were I live. This once again goes back to 'The Ambassadors' by Hans Holbein. Don't worry, the can isn't always there.

PART of my final Portrait:

Just a simple head on picture. Like a Passport photo but I'm doing more to it. I want my portrait to be analytical as opposed to 'real'. I'll get into my final idea a bit later.

Life Drawing Classes

Its been nearly week from when we had our first life drawing classes and I'm only now just putting them on the blog?! Man, I'm lazy.
Apologies for the creases in the pictures. My Dad folded them up without knowing what they are. Sorry again but I think you can see whats going on.
L1:

This is my first ever life drawing so be nice... or not. Criticism is always welcome.

What do you think?

Dice model

Very quick update this late at night.

Here is my dice tutorial. As you can see the texture has gone crazy on the dice. Anyone experienced this and got a solution? I'll look into it tommorow.

I'm Back... with portraits

After I was crippled due to some random illness, I'm am no back with avengence. Today I'm just trying to catch up with the Preparatory portraits. I'll be blogging the lectures and workshop lessons at the weekend, so this is just some portrait attempts. Remember that these are just trying out different styles so theres only light use of Photoshop.

You will see through these portraits that I really like the idea of portraits that don't actually have the person in it. Its more of an analytical look at a person. I have also gone with photos because of what was said in the lectures. They are a documentary instead of a supposed fabrication. I want these to be who I am inside. Here we go:

The Cat:
I believe that people can be defined by the kind of animals or pets they have. Its kinda like how you can define a person by the company they keep. So in a way, I am the cat, the cat is me.
On a technical level all I did was adjust the lighting and her eyes. Its not so fun airbrushing a cat.

My hand
The reasoning behind this is that my hand has been there, well for all my life (obviously). It has all the experience and shows the ware of everything I have ever done. This is really the core of who and what I fundamentally am.
Technically I just adjusted lighting again.
My face Cliched:
Filter Time:

Chalk and Charcoal.
I prefer this then the 'monotone' setting because I like the shades.
Textures:

This was just a test to see how different textures can make a picture.
Black and white Halves:
The most cliched is the black and white look to show a good-evil side... apparently. I can't see it. It appears more to me like filter overload. oh well each to there own.
To be continued...
More Analytical portraits to come.
